Stick Man

Stick Man

Illustrated by Axel Scheffler

Stick Man lives in the family tree
With his Stick Lady Love and their stick children three

But the world is a dangerous place for a Stick Man. A dog wants to play with him. A swan builds her nest with him. He even ends up on a fire! Will he ever get back to the family tree?

“An irresistibly jaunty picture book, spiced with the danger familiar to all those who love The Gruffalo.  Julia Donaldson’s rhyming text brings the tale to a satisfying conclusion.” The Guardian

“Another cracker of a book. Donaldson’s rhymes bound along, like vintage Dr Seuss, while Scheffler’s slyly witty illustrations are a pleasure. Stick Man’s dogged insistence on his own identity will resonate with children and grown-ups alike.”Financial Times

Julia says ...

In The Gruffalo’s Child Axel pictured the little Gruffalo with a stick doll which she carries around with her. That set me thinking about stick people and gave me the idea for Stick Man.

In New York with my vey own Stick Man

There is a very enjoyable play of the book, done by Stick Man Productions, and also an animation by Magic Light.
